When supporting people with learning disabilities and communication impairments, it is useful to consider the processes involved in communication. This will help us to improve our interactions with individuals. There are many different ways of analysing communication. This report by Kim Williams (a speech and language therapist who HSA works in partnership with), which is based on previous work by Alison Matthews, helps us to think about various aspects of communication.
