Reablement

Reablement is a short-term, intensive programme of support for people who have had a spell in hospital. The aim is to help them relearn daily living skills so they do not need long-term support or to go back into hospital.

Papers

A new reablement journey - Jenny Pitts, Helen Sanderson, Amy Webster and Louise Skelhorn.

This paper aims to stimulate discussion and thinking about a different way of offering reablement. It doesn't contradict the current approach, but builds on it, suggesting that we can take reablement to a new level in order to maximise its benefits. This involves redefining reablement, challenging our thinking about who should be able to benefit from it and for how long; and how much the person is involved in owning and steering the process.
