Planning Live! Workshop.

This is a three day programme with an optional fourth day, designed for individuals, their family members, Circles of Support members and professionals who are trained support planning facilitators, whose purpose is to enable people to develop their support plan ready for signing off by a budget holder.

It is designed for people developing their own support plan or for families, friends and support planners, who will be helping people develop a support plan. The days are held separately over a 4 - 6 week period.

What does this course cover?

The objectives of this programme are for participants to:

  • Be introduced to an overview of the self directed support process and the part the support plan plays within that process.
  • Be introduced to the seven essential criteria required to be met by a support plan. • Be introduced to the support planning graphic and the support planning cards as techniques to aid the development of a support plan.
  • Explore a number of different person centred thinking tools and techniques that aid support planning.
  • Develop their support plan ready for agreement by the budget holder(s).

Day 1 is a preparation day before the actual planning begins.
It is an opportunity for participants to understand the process of self directed support as a whole and the part support planning plays within that process. Participants can also learn about two tools that they can complete before the planning begins.

Days 2 and 3 are the actual planning days.
Participants will be facilitated to use a number of different tools and exercises to develop their support plan. These days usually take place 2 - 4 weeks apart.

Day 4 is an optional, but highly recommended, day that can provide an opportunity for people to bring their plans to be seen before they go to a decision maker to be agreed. It is usual for the day to be divided into hour slots for participants to come at an agreed time to see the facilitators and discuss their plans.

Who is it for?
