Self Directed Support in Practice - Roles and Responsibilities of Social Care Staff.
This two day workshop is designed to introduce social care staff,
(care managers) to the self-directed support process and their roles
and responsibilities within that.
What does this course cover?
This two day workshop is designed to introduce social care staff,
(care managers) to the self-directed support process and their
roles and responsibilities within that.
The objectives of this day are for participants to:
- Be introduced to an overview of the self-directed support
process.
- Be clear about their role within the self/supported assessment
process.
- Explore a person centred thinking tool to support
decision-making.
- Understand what makes a good, robust support plan and their
responsibilities in this part of the process.
- Be introduced to the seven questions (criteria) required in
support planning.
- Know their responsibilities for agreeing support plans.
- Explore the processes for reviewing support plans.
- Use a person centred thinking tool to develop a 'doughnut'
outlining core responsibilities and where they can use creativity
and judgement, within the self-directed support process.
Who is it for?
Anyone within the field of social care who wants to deepen their
understanding of the process of self-directed support. This can
include care managers, social workers and decision-makers.
What will people know and be able to do as a result of
attending this course?
Participants will:
- Gain an understanding of the new process of enabling people to
access social care and support services by self directing their
support and using personal budgets.
- Gain an understanding of the seven essential criteria which
must be present in a support plan.
- Be able to demonstrate how people in receipt of a personal
budget are self directing their life, through the use of specific
person centred decision-making tools.
- Be able to support people to review their support plans, using
the outcome focussed review process.
- Be able to act on national best practice and implement locally
developed roles and core responsibilities of social care staff,
within the self directed support process and decide where they can
use their creativity and judgement.
