Support Planning and Review Strategy Day.
This one day workshop is designed to introduce best practice
recommendations for commencing the process of developing a
robust support planning and review strategy.
Our experience with the development of self directed support
processes has shown us that it is important that authorities
develop a support planning and review strategy, with as much
urgency and within a similar time frame as a resource allocation
system.
We have developed the strategy document, with 'in Control' (see
www.in-control.org.uk, or www.supportplanning.org.) This is a series of
questions that can help a group to think through the key issues
that need to be included in a support planning and review
strategy.
The process of developing a robust support planning and review
strategy begins with a one day workshop, designed to introduce best
practice recommendations.
The objectives of this day are for participants to:
- Be introduced to an overview of the self-directed support
process and understand where support planning and review processes
lie within self-directed support.
- Explore the five pathways/approaches to support planning and
brokerage.
- Use a framework of 10 key areas of best practice
recommendations to develop a support planning and review strategy,
which places support planning at the heart of the selfdirected
support process.
- Explore what is working and what is not working currently
against those 10 key areas.
- Develop an action plan considering what it will take to
implement the support plan and review strategy within an agreed
timeframe, for example in 2 years time. Then for participants to
develop and one year plan and finally their immediate next
steps.
Who is it for?
Strategic stakeholders/representation, from all those involved in
self-directed support/support planning within the field of social
care - practitioners, managers, finance/human resource. Also
decision-makers with responsibilities for agreeing support plans,
personalisation team members and all other key decision makers who
would authorise making resource decisions around support plans and
anyone from a senior management level.
What will people know and be able to do as a result of
attending this course?
Participants will:
- Gain a deeper understanding of the new process of enabling
people to access social care and support services by self directing
their support and using individual/personal budgets.
- Be able to demonstrate how people in receipt of an Individual/
Personal Budget are self directing their life, by developing local
brokerage options, capacity and opportunities.
- The Strategy will clearly outline your local vision and
participants will be able to act on national best practice and
immediately begin the process of implementing the robust action
plan developed.
