Managers and Person Centred Practices - using the new "Progress for Providers for Managers" - Checking your progress in using Person Centred Approaches

The content of this course reflects the Department of Health's guidance "Personlisation through Person Centred Planning (2010)" and how Progress for Providers (for managers) fits with the Care Quality commission's regulatory outcome framework, Supporting People (Quality assurance framework), the Health and Social Care Diploma, the reach standards as well as other quality assurance and development frameworks.

This one day course enables managers of provider services to identify and begin to address the changes that are needed to ensure that person centred approaches are embedded in day to day practice and that people using services have choice ad control over how they are supported.

What does the course cover?

Course objectives:

  • Explore the national and local context in relation to using person centred approaches
  • Exploring your knowledge, skills and understanding of person centred thinking tools and approaches
  • Thinking about how you support team members in how they use person centred thinking tools and approaches
  • Exploring how you and your team use person centred thinking tools to support individuals to have choice and control in their lives
  • How you use person centred thinking tools and approaches to create a person centred culture within your team
  • Look at national good practice examples from other providers
  • Undertake a detailed, individual action plan to move towards success
  • Sharing information on a range of free resources

 

Who is it for?

First line, middle and senior managers along with other key stakeholders such as trustees.


What will people know and be able to do as a result of attending this course?

Complete a self assessment of the three following areas:

  1. The knowlege and skills required for person centred thinking and approaches
  2. How to help people have choice and control in their lives
  3. Creating a person centred culture within a team

You will develop you own detailed, individual action plan and think about how you can use Progress for Providers - managers, within your team.
