In the continuation of the development of Person Centred Thinking in the classroom at Abbey Hill School, today we explored how learning logs have made a difference to Tony's life at school.
Tony is 13 years old who loves his own space, music, his key-board, balancing anything and loves his sister Tina! Tony struggled a lot with school life as he didn't like much of what was on offer in the school curriculum. Tony has autism. His teachers Julie, Kerry and Lynne knew this as when Tony was in the classroom environment he constantly pointed outside indicating that he wanted to leave. He didn't appear to want to do most of the things other pupils wanted to do. He began to tell them how frustrated he was about school life through his behaviour, when he became aggressive to staff and other pupils and was sometimes stripping his clothing off. When out on schools outings/trips Tony also became really anxious and upset when the bus was coming near the school.
